1. What visa services does the High Commission offer?
High Commission accepts applications for different types of Visa as per guidelines of MHA.
2. How do I submit the application?
After filling and submitting the form online (https://indianvisaonline.gov.in), applicant needs to Submit print out of the visa application with supporting documents (explanatory letter, documentary proof of urgency, address proof, passport copy, surrender certificate) and other documents as applicable on case to case basis. Fee as well as Original passport also needs to be submitted.

3. Where do I submit the application?
Applications are accepted only through BLS. Applicant has to submit hard copy of application with all relevant documents at the nearest BLS center. BLS also accepts applications through post.
4. Can I submit application at the High Commission in person?
No. Applications for emergency visa only are accepted at the High Commission.
5. Can I collect passport/visa directly from High Commission?
No. Passports are dispatched to the applicant’s address as given in application form through post only.
6. I am a resident of a place outside Toronto. Can I submit my application at HCI, Ottawa?
HCI, Ottawa accepts applications only of people living in its Consular Jurisdiction (High Commission of India Ottawa, Canada : Consular jurisdiction (hciottawa.gov.in)
7. What is the processing time for Visa?
2-3 days of receipt of application from BLS.
8. I have not surrendered my Indian passport after obtaining Canadian / Foreign Citizenship. How can I submit my entry visa application where in surrender certificate is one of the document to be submitted with visa application?
Please submit your surrender certificate application first at the BLS center first and obtain the payment receipt having the bar code. You may enclose this receipt with your entry visa application and submit for visa.
9. I have OCI, do I need Visa?
No. Visa is not required if you have OCI.
10. Who can apply Emergency Visa?
Emergency Visa is granted ONLY for genuine medical and humanitarian emergencies which is subject to verification and at the discretion of the High Commission. Please submit visa applications at the nearest BLS center. Please enclose a letter explaining the urgency for travel to India with documentary proof of urgency, as available.

12. What additional documents are required in case the applicant is a minor?
13. Do photocopies of original documents need to be attested?
Only photocopies of original documents are required. In case attestation is required applicant will be informed by High Commission.
14. Can I send my application through a travel agent?
No, High Commission has not authorized any travel agent except BLS.
